Use the Chemical Management module to inventory chemicals, store Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and track chemical usage.
The products in your database are linked to their related SDS information for easy reference, and you can search for a product by trade name, chemical name, or ingredient.
The inventory function tracks the location(s) where a product is stored, including the GDDLOFB fields, average amount, units of measure, and review date, and allows for standard phrases and symbols to be attached to the product. A label function allows you to print labels for the product using WHMIS or NFPA symbols.
There are different views and access privileges for the administrator, designates (those defined as responsible for a product in inventory), and public users.
Administrators have full access to the chemical management modules. They can add, update or remove both products and SDS. They identify users as designates (in the Users table), and change the inventory locations that each designate has privileges to. Administrators are also responsible for processing the “To-Do” requests submitted by designates to add new products and SDS to the system.
Designates can view their inventory and add products (from the existing master inventory) to their inventory, but cannot modify product records. Designates can also view SDSs, print labels and reports, and submit requests to add or update an SDS or purchase a chemical.
Public users can view and search for SDS. They cannot view the inventory locations where a product is located.
This chapter explains how to:
search for products, add products to your database, and manage the SDS links (see Viewing or Entering a Product)
manage your product inventory (see Managing Product Inventory)
print product labels (see Printing Labels)
manage requests (see Managing and Creating Requests).
To see the look-up tables used by this module and the reports available, see Module Reference. There may also be system settings that affect your use of this module; for more information, see Changing Your System Settings.
