The Drug Testing module includes two major components: a randomization algorithm to select employees from pre-defined pools; and a test results component to store the results of random and non-random tests.
Cority supports both Random and Forced By Month Drug pools:
Random drug pools are created through the look-up tables and include a user-defined pool ID, pool description, the percentage for drug and alcohol tests per year, how often people are tested and how often the draws are done. Demographic parameters (e.g. job, department, division, location etc.) can be used to define pools. The system also accommodates the addition or removal of employees from a pool on an ad hoc basis.
Forced By Month pools allow you to meet stewardship requirements for which you need to draw employees a certain number of times during a year. All required selections should be completed by the end of the “Forced by” month, essentially shortening the year for forced selections.
Once the pool is defined a draw can be created. The system displays the number of employees to be tested this year and the number of employees to be included in the current draw. Test batteries are then assigned to the draw for drug and alcohol testing. The system then randomly selects employees to be included in the draw from the list of eligible employees. The draw must be saved before the user can see the list of employees that were selected by the algorithm.
Individual drug/alcohol tests for employees can also be entered manually or through direct transfer from a clinical laboratory using either ASTM, LabCorp (standard protocols used by most laboratories), or Medtox. Information captured includes: sample date, time, type, test battery, laboratory and a positive results flag.
This chapter explains how to:
draw a sample of employees for testing (see Drawing a Sample)
view a list of all employees selected in all drug draws (see Viewing Drug Draw History for Employees)
create and modify an employee pool (see Creating, Modifying and Combining Employee Pools)
enter drug test results manually or from an electronic file (see Entering Drug Testing Results or Importing Drug Testing Results)
