Use the Audits and Inspections module to manage Safety, Ergonomic, or Environmental audits and inspections, including findings, actions required, and any supporting documentation such as questionnaires, notes, letters, and other related documents. An audit might seek to ensure standards are being met (e.g. guardrails, hard hats, reporting, labeling, etc.), or whether policies and procedures are in place and followed.
What’s the difference between an “audit”, an “inspection”, and a “survey”?
Audits are usually performed less frequently, on a large scale or scope, and are often system- or program-based. Audit information can be entered before, during, and after the audit. After the audit, findings and actions are linked to the audit record.
Inspections are usually performed more frequently or on a recurring basis. They are assigned to one or more inspectors, are specific, and are often equipment- or area-based. For example:
quarterly fall protection equipment checks by 75 maintenance workers at a site
weekly supervisor area inspections by 100 supervisors
bi-monthly ergonomic risk checks of 80 jobs in an assembly facility.
A survey functions the same as an inspection, but is intended for a broader audience. It allows you to send a questionnaire to specific people who do not usually have access to the Cority application. Unlike a regular questionnaire, the email link they receive allows them to open the survey directly, and you can track who has not yet responded.
The workflow for inspections is as follows:
An administrator defines an inspection program, including recurrence, and assigns it to one or more inspectors.
An email notification is sent to the assigned inspector(s). The inspection also appears in the assignee’s My Inspections list.
The assignee completes the inspection.
The administrator reviews the inspection.
This chapter explains how to:
Create and record an audit (see Working with Audits).
Create an inspection program (see Creating an Inspection or Survey Program).
Complete an inspection (see Completing an Inspection or Survey).
